Finds the Venture X easy: the travel credit works like cash on flights and rentals, and its lounge access came in handy a few times this year.

“VX is pretty easy. $300 credit is as good as cash if used on flights or rental cars (but hotels are sometimes a good deal). Never had an issue where I felt forced to use the credit.”

Travels twice a year and finds the Venture X the easiest card to justify its annual fee; they had the Amex Platinum and closed it.

“My Venture X is undefeated for me . I only travel 2 times a year and so far this has literally been the easiest cars for me to justify the annual fee”

Still uses the Venture X's unlimited Priority Pass and Hertz status after getting another premium card, and finds it roughly annual-fee neutral.

“I still use the PP membership since it's unlimited with the VX, and if you rent cars, the Hertz status is great.”

Dropped the Amex Gold and uses the Venture X often, recently getting a good hotel rate through its portal.

“As someone who had both, I no longer have the Gold and use the Venture X frequently. I just got a good rate on a hotel room the other night through the travel portal.”

Their Venture X gets little use now: most 2x spending has moved to other cards with better bonuses.

“My Venture X gets very little use these days honestly.”

Used the Venture X portal's price match once for a flight and it worked, though it was paid as portal credit rather than a refund.

“I’ve used the price match once and it worked out — it was for a KLM flight that was cheaper on KLM.com than the portal”
mixed

Found the Venture X's travel credit harder to use than the Sapphire Reserve's, since it requires the portal, where hotels and rentals often cost more.

“With the VX you have to use the capital one travel portal. Which is usually fine for flights. But hotels and car rentals often have better deals elsewhere”

Calls the Venture X their keeper card: portal prices are comparable, price drops after booking were refunded automatically, and authorized-user cards are free.

“I’ve benefited from the price change auto refund when prices drop shortly after booking. It hasn’t been much. Only $50-$80. I love that it’s automatic.”

Finds the Venture X pays for itself through portal bookings on their regular vacations, plus lounge access and the other card benefits.

“Venture x “pays for itself” if you book travel through their portal. We go on vacation semi frequently so this has not been hard.”
positivegreat travel perks

Has booked several trips through the Venture X portal and never paid more than elsewhere once the 10% back is counted.

“In the 5-10 trips I've taken where I've used the VX for either flights or hotels (or both), I've never paid more than what I saw elsewhere.”

Got upgrades and skipped counters with the Venture X's Hertz status, and relies on its rental-car coverage instead of buying insurance.

“I have benefited from this Hertz perk. First, due to PC status, we can get one size higher vehicle”
positivegreat travel perks

The Venture X had just edged out the Sapphire Reserve for their spending, but the lounge-access changes push them to leave Capital One.

“this is a pretty bonkers change for our travel patterns and firmly puts CSR over the top. i guess i'm done with capital one now.”

Uses the Venture X for its multipliers and 2x on everything; when a portal price was higher, calling the price-match line refunded the difference as travel credit.

“I use the venture X for the points multiplier you mentioned, and the 2x on everything else. It has much better protections imo.”

Booked four international and three domestic trips through the Venture X portal in a year with no problems; two cancelled flights were sorted out.

“I booked all of the flights and hotels through the portal and have had zero issues.”

Uses the Venture X for lounge access, TSA PreCheck and its travel credit, but puts everyday spending on Chase cards instead.

“I only got the VX to fill the gaps/benefits the CSP didn’t have but don’t use it to earn points.”

In their second year with the Venture X and loves it: the travel credits cover the annual fee, authorized users get lounge access, and 10x on hotels pays off for their trips.

“We travel 3 times a year and normally to hotel, the 10x points is worth it.. together with Visa Infinite benefits. 2nd year with this card now, I love it.”

Uses both the Capital One and Chase travel portals and finds their prices mostly the same as booking elsewhere.

“On both portals I've had prices that were sometimes higher, yes, but as often as that happens (rarely) I've actually seen prices that were lower.”

Opened the Venture X for a nearby Capital One lounge and uses it for large purchases outside bonus categories; considers it basically free and likes its partners for international travel.

“I opened a venture x because I live in a C1 lounge city, it had a good sub, and I had a savorone”

Uses the Venture X at Costco instead of the Costco card: the earnings are about the same, but the miles can be redeemed without waiting for a yearly coupon.

“I use the Venture X at Costco. I have the Costco CC, but the earnings on both cards is practically the same (2% on Costco CC vs 2x miles valued at $0.01 each)”
